"History Of Muysic - selected non-album material 1995-2003"
Far to long we've been waiting for a new release of the "Yamaha-Boys From Siilinjärvi"/Finland. And indeed their new release "The History Of Muysic" is a perfect guide to the history of this truly exceptional act from Finland. Aavikko (the Finnish word for desert) are actually an interesting phenomenon in the Finnish music-scene. In 1995 these three guys started to perform their weird blend of exotic electronica, trashy easy-listening sounds and instrumental space-
disco, played on two cheap keyboards and one drum-set. Until today they achieved more than most bands form this remote country in the north of Europe. They were invited by Mr. John Peel himself for a BBC Peel Session, they played regularly tours in Russia, the US, the UK and continental Europe (in fact on one tour together with Stereo Total), played legendary New York venue Knitting Factory, released loads of 7"s, two regular full-length albums, wrote a theme for a soap on Finnish national tv and contributed tracks to compilations all over the world. Except of their album-releases most of the stuff has not been available for years. Means that a compilation like "History Of Muysic" has definitely been overdue.
On this album you'll find material from their first rehearsals to their latest works being released as vinyl-only 7" on the bands own label "Muysic For Peoples". 25 tracks including their very first 7" on legendary Finnish Bad Vugum-label, previously unreleased outtakes from their full-length debut "Derek!", a remix of Stereo Total's song "Holiday Inn", the whole "Oriental Baby" MCD and the split-7" with Felix Kubin (both sold out since years), the aforementioned tv-theme (which by the way topped Finnlands gsm ring-tone charts for some months), their collaboration with Afghan singer Kabar and a lot more exciting and disturbing stuff.
Besides the booklet features a complete discography of the band and informative liner-notes on the bands history from the very beginning.
