Catalogue number 9pm 050 - Mäkkelä's "Single Of The Year"
It's been a while indeed since the last release of Maekkelae's Trash Lounge. 2009 his full length album "Means Nothing In Hitchin" under the name Maekkelae & Orkesteri, featuring a full band line up. Then there was the download single "Miss Hertfordshire" in late 2010 followed by the acoustic Church Of The Blue Nun album under the aegis of Maekkelae and his genius partner in songwriting, Dutch guitarist/singer Robin van Velzen.
There has been a hell of a lot of touring all across Europe over the past years which hardly left a lot of time for proper recordings. Touring Spain, the UK, Scandinavia both solo and in various constellations just took most of the time. But now, finally, here's a sign of life. And it's an amazing one. Whilst touring Finland and Sweden in May and June 2013 there was time for some impromptu recordings with old friends and tour acquaintances. The result of one studio evening in Rovaniemi next to the arctic circle and two days in a summer cottage in southern Finland turned out as superb as it is surprising. It's 9pm Record's 50th release, it's a four track vinyl and it marks a change in the artists carreer. So I assume we may call this a special release in many ways...
