SUB MACHINE MUSIC
- [the pop files]

It's 2003 and the older the new century grows the more all the genre-borders tend to vanish. Neither the singer/songwriters are what they used to be nor the popsters and even the electronic music scene gives a damn about limitations. Good idea in our opinion. As this matches in a perfect way with the 9pm Records philosophy of releasing odd popmusic with a strong character not giving a f*** about borders. As this situation seems to be the perfect soil for developing thrilling and exceptional music time has come for us to release this compilation. "sub machine music [the pop files]" displays a nice little collection of music where songwriting skills meet minimal electronica. Most of the material being previously unreleased or has exclusively been written for this release.
Aavikko with a (by then) previously unreleased track of the recording-sessions for their "Derek!"-album + Finnish underground-pop legend and Jimi Tenor labelmate Brandi Ifrgray + Suicide-legend Martin Rev + Jasper Pattison of Bath/UK with one of his solo-works (usually he plays as bassist with British Ska-Punk heroes Citizen Fish) + an unreleased track of [drekka] (mastermind behind the brillant bluesanct-label) + Butcher Boy (in another life being the singer of Germany's guitar-pop institution The Truffauts) + of course exclusive tracks of 9pm Artists gaffers and Mäkkelä's Trash Lounge + Farwerk, an exciting electro-project from Berlin-Kreuzberg + Chainsmoker (Finnland) with an almost technoid track from their last album on BV2 Productions + Custom Drummer meets Miss Impossible, the wonderful sideproject of Tomi Leppänen of Aavikko! + Truck Records/Oxford contributed one song of their most promising band Meanwhile Back In Communist Russia!
